Hi family of the world! I put a small list of some of my favorite diverse toys to share with all of you! Why you ask? Because kids learn through play and we want to raise babies who love and include each other.
Little people have impressionable minds. They notice differences, and they also notice a lack of differences. If we want our littles to be open-minded and understanding of all people and cultures, it’s important to show them what that looks like. For those of us who are raising kids of color, it’s also vital for us to show our kids they are represented in the world around them.
Below are just some of my personal favorite toys! Heads up, they are mostly dolls.
MINIKANE DOLLS
MiniKane Dolls, also known as Paolo Reina Dolls, may be the cutest dolls on the market. From the clothes you can purchase for them to all of the accessories, they are certainly like no other. The best part is they are so diverse! Paolo Reina has thought of everything when creating these dolls. They are made using quality eco-friendly materials and non-toxic vinyl AND they are all lightly scented with a sweet vanilla to mimic that fresh newborn baby smell. Your little one will love creating imaginative scenarios with their lifelike and diverse MiniKane Dolls.
HARPERIMAN DOLLS
These dolls are continuously sold out and I can understand why! HarperIman handmade dolls have taken doll making to the next level. Each doll is full of life, creativity, and personality. The mother daughter duo that created HarperIman had a vision to create dolls of color that represented and celebrated all that is beautiful about textured hair and a variety of skin tones. Hopefully you can be one of the lucky ones that can order one of these amazing dolls before they sell out again and again.
MY FAMILY BUILDERS
My Family Builders creates meaningful toys & games that encourage young kids to embrace family diversity through play. From card games, magnetic block sets, and matching games, there is something for every family.
HEALTHY ROOTS DOLLS

AH yep. Another amazing doll who seems to always be sold out. But she is coming back soon! Healthy Roots created the first doll to have hair that is specially designed with curl power that allows it to be washed and styled. I can't think of one child who wouldn't absolutely love Zoe.
MORE THAN PEACH
I am so thankful that there are now options for crayons that represent colors of all people, not just the peach ones! Unfortunately it wasn't always this way and a brilliant young girl name Bellen noticed it right in her very own classroom. Bellen was the world's first crayon activist who created the goal of getting multicultural crayons in the hands of every student so that no kid feels disincluded. Bellen created the More Than Peach project that went viral with her Palette Packets that included big-brand multicultural crayons. The crayons were pricey and hard to find and after some time and lots of work Bellen has created her very own crayon brand. They are available for pre-order now! If time is of the essence and you need crayons now take a look at Colour Me Crayons or People Colors Crayons.
MERI MERI
I have always been a huge fan of the whimsical party brand Meri Meri. They have always grabbed my attention with their perfectly magical party decor. As I became a Mom I noticed that they also designed beautiful playthings, these cloth dolls being one of them. As a 30 something year old that is going to have to play with dolls for the next 8-10 years, I can honestly say that I am excited to have them in my daughters family of friends for both of us to play with.
PAPER PLAY + WONDER
Paper Play + Wonder creates digital paper downloads that make it easy to quickly print out a new activity. Prices range from $1-$10 which makes these activities super affordable. Spark your kiddos imagination through paper play.
OLLI ELLA DINKUM DOLLS
The Australian brand Olli Ella is nothing short of amazing. Everything these ladies come out with is so aesthetically pleasing and beautiful. Their Dinkum dolls are soft, snuggly and huggable. Kids can dress them, style their hair, pose them with arms and legs that move and they can also sit and stand when wearing their shoes. The best part of purchasing these dolls is a portion of each sale is donated to Save The Children to support global education initiatives.
Well, there you have it! These are just some of the many great ways you can add inclusivity in your childs play. If you have more options and toys please let me know!
Remember be kind and above all love each other deeply.
Love always,
Alisha
